Streetwise joined forces with a community group in Gamston on Friday (April 5), to help clean up the area and reduce the amount of unnecessary waste found in local public spaces.
Volunteers from West Bridgford Community Litter Pickers joined the ground maintenance contractors to complete the litter pick.
Angela Handley, with assistance from fellow members of the Streetwise team, provided litter pickers and high visibility jackets before joining the group to collect litter from Ambleside and the surrounding areas, including the local park and canal footpath.
Streetwise Managing Director John Scott-Lee was thrilled by the number of volunteers who attended the event to protect their local environment.
He said: “At Streetwise, we recognise that communities are at the heart of all good, sustainable environmental projects.
“Many local groups already organise regular events to keep their public spaces looking fantastic and this litter picking event demonstrated the generosity of many residents throughout the Borough.
“I want to thank all who volunteered and I would encourage everyone across Rushcliffe to consider how they could work together to protect their local environment for the future.”
With the help of Streetwise, the team of eager volunteers were able to clear the area of many small items, including a plastic bag of money that was later donated to charity.
At the end of the event, members from the volunteer group were praised for their hard work and treated to coffee and cake by the team from Streetwise.
