The girls of South Notts Sapphires had a surprise visitor to their end of season presentation.
Jo Brown, back row England Roses and Loughborough Lightning, handed out the trophies and certificates to all the players.
The trophies were given out for the core values of rugby: teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
Caroline Towndrow told the Local News: “These values make the game special for those who enjoy the environment and strengthens the positive image of the game.
“The girls have been to watch Loughborough Lightning at the university a number of times and also followed them to their semi-final match at Twickenham Stoop.
“It has been great to see the girls supporting our local teams, including the West Bridgford Ladies.
“Jo was more than happy to repay them for their support by presenting the girls with their awards and speaking about the great opportunity they have at South Notts Sapphires.”
Pre-season training takes place every Thursday (from 20th June) at 6:30pm at Moderns RFC, while the season gets under way on 1st September.
In addition, a Turn up and Have a Go session – open to all girls from year six to year 13 – takes place on Sunday 22nd September at West Bridgford RFC. Time to be confirmed.
Caroline added: “You can be assured that new players will be made very welcome by our friendly bunch of girls.”
