The Clifton Local News understands a study into a new extension of the Nottingham tram network in Clifton will be commencing shortly.
Following the recent approval of a £200,000 cash investment into the study, Nottingham City Council say the research will look at a possible extension in Clifton to go alongside the new major 3,000-home development that is soon to be built on the land close to the A453.
An extension is also being considered to the planned HS2 Hub at Toton Lane, as well as other longer-term potential development sites in the Greater Nottingham area.
The city council believe an extension from the Clifton South Park and Ride will provide easier access for residents to the new homes and employment development site, which was approved earlier this year.
In a recent report by the council, they say any future expansion proposals will depend on identifying funding opportunities, with the report stating that the city council will seek the Department for Transport for possible funding.
