The tram works in Clifton are still on course to be completed by the end of the year as the project enters its final stages.
Farnborough Road at the top end of Clifton between Holy Trinity and Clifton Lane has reopened in one direction and work at the Southchurch Flats junction is nearly complete.
Rumours in the media in the last few weeks had suggested a further delay, but construction work is set to be finished by December and then testing on the new lines will begin.
A spokesman for the project said:“ We are aware of reports suggesting a specific timescale for the launch of the Phase Two network but these remain pure speculation.
“Construction work is nearing completion and the contractors are working to fully undertake the testing and commissioning phase as soon as possible.
“Some months ago we said the launch would take place during the first part of 2015 and this remains the case.”
