Rushcliffe Borough Council’s summer calendar of events concludes on Sunday 11 September with Sunday Funday.
Sunday Funday is an award winning annual fun day that is held with our partners in health, NHS Rushcliffe Clinical Commissioning Group. It aims to encourage children and young people to eat well, move more and live longer by trying new activities and learning about healthy eating. The day kicks off at Rushcliffe Country Park in Ruddington at 12pm and runs till 5pm.
This year, the event features a kids dance class by dance teacher Maverick, a demonstration by Nottingham Korfball Club, a sway dance run by Parkwood Leisure and a fencing demonstration by Radcliffe Sword Club. There are lots of free have-a-go interactive food sessions from nutrition experts and food market area in our Eat Well zone.
Get active with a variety of free sports challenges that will be running throughout the day. The sports include rugby, mini tennis, cricket, hockey and many more. Children can collect an ‘As Good as Gold’ card listing each of these sports, and tick them off as they complete each one. Once your child has completed every activity on the card, they can then collect a free prize from our information marquee.
In addition to being able to participate in physical activity, attendees can get a mini health check and tips on how to stay healthy and have fun doing it. The information will be delivered by our partners in health, NHS Rushcliffe CCG and supports the national SmokeFree Summer and Change4Life campaigns.
Admission to the event is free; all you need to do is turn up. Parking around the country park may be limited. Please follow the signs for the public car park and do not park on surrounding residential streets. For more information about the event, visit our Facebook page.
