By day, Paul Barnes and Nick Pollitt are two of John German’s finest property valuers. By night, they could give the Vettel’s and Rosberg’s of this world a run for their money.
As part of the John German’s 175th year anniversary celebrations, they decided to use their race driving expertise at the world-famous Donington Park circuit.
This was to help raise money for two chosen charities; Rainbows Hospice For Children & Young People in Loughborough and St Giles’ Hospice near Lichfield.
Katy Storer, central admin and marketing for John German, said: “Paul and Nick took our generous guests for white-knuckle laps around the world-famous racetrack in super-fast Caterham cars. Combined, they drove at least 70 laps of the circuit on a very warm evening.
“We can honestly say the night couldn’t have gone any better. The weather was lovely, everyone was in a fantastic mood and all the riders came back in one piece.
“Better still, Nicholas Hamilton – Lewis Hamilton’s younger brother who races an Audi in British Touring Cars – was training in the pitstop next to ours and even took the time to come and pose for a picture with us.
“We also spotted Kelvin Fletcher who plays Andy Sugden in Emmerdale.”
The following day we received a lovely letter from one of the guests, saying: “I have never been on a track myself, so it was a real treat to experience it last night – I loved it.
“Although I thanked him last night please pass on my appreciation to Paul – he must have been completely shattered by the time the last lap was completed.
“I would also like to thank all the John German staff for making all the invitees and their guests welcome and also for the excellent refreshments.”
Katy added: “The event has helped raise an astonishing £2,755 and donations are still coming in.
“John German would like to give massive thanks to all the guests and contributors. Thanks to Paul and Nick for driving and thanks to The Buffet Boutique for the refreshments.”

Staff will take part in a sponsored cycle relay between all 10 of their offices across four counties. This will be held on the weekend of 19th and 20th September – more details to follow.
