Would you like to get out more? Think a walk could be healthy and lift your spirits?
Then short health walks in Rushcliffe could be for you, with Cotgrave Country Park one of the walking areas.
Walking can reduce your risk of diabetes type 2, falls, depression and dementia, joint pain and some cancers.
Ernie, a walk leader and Friend of the Park, said: “The walk lasts about an hour and a quarter, but we can do a shorter one as well, as we always have more than one leader.
“We walk up Mill Lane into the country park and see wild flowers of yellow St John’s Wort, pink Knap Weed, and yellow Ragwort being munched by striped cinnabar caterpillars.
“The old metal rail lines here took coal to be loaded onto lorries for Radcliffe on Soar power station.
“The lovely path by the canal shown in the photo is one we do (photo credit: Harry Burrows).
“A drink at the Rose and Crown is welcome afterwards. Coffee and tea as well.”
