Schools and nurseries may have closed but the learning doesn’t stop for children as, in a positive move by Bingham business and publisher, La Jolie Ronde Languages For Children, classes have been re-located online so that children in the area as well as the whole of the UK and even abroad, can carry on with their bilingual learning during the Coronavirus crisis.
The weekly extracurricular classes are usually held, in small groups, at lunchtimes or after-school in local primary schools and nurseries as well as open centres following the award-winning La Jolie Ronde methodology of language teaching.
Marketing Manager for La Jolie Ronde, Mala Henry, says “It is a very unsettling time as we all come to terms with the impact of the Coronavirus. As schools and nurseries close their doors and more and more families self-isolate, we were determined to remain positive. We wanted to help, both children and parents, to keep a feeling of normality so by continuing to provide their French and Spanish sessions, via online classes, we hope we have helped to accomplish this. Online classes are delivered via live video links and, just as with our normal weekly classes, the emphasis is on fun positive language learning introduced through entertaining and enjoyable games, songs, role-plays and activities based on a variety of topics to suit each age group. The sessions also enable children to re-connect and keep in touch with their friends which again we felt was extremely important to help with childrens wellbeing. As part of our Structured Programme each child also has their own colourful activity book that they can continue with at home”, she added
La Jolie Ronde has been successfully offering language classes to nursery and primary aged children for over 37 years. The La Jolie Ronde methodology of language teaching includes immersion in French and Spanish from the very beginning, as well as lots of repetition from week to week helping to build confidence for when children continue their language learning journey at secondary school.
“So it’s business as usual but instead of coming to class, children will learn via a laptop, tablet or even a mobile phone in their homes delivered by our fantastic team of over 560 tutors. Our aim is, and has always been, for learning to be a thoroughly positive experience so that by the time the child begins secondary school their foundation of language learning will provide them with a significant head start. The response so far to our online classes, from both parents and pupils, has been amazing with many other family members joining in the fun too” she added.
