Rushcliffe Swimming Club recently held a swimathon, inviting swimmers of all ages to join in and see how many lengths they could swim to raise money for West Bridgford charity, the Friary.
The swimmers swam an amazing 98km in total, which is almost three times across the Channel.
The club also held a cake sale over the same weekend with a splendid choice of home-baked cakes that wouldn’t have been out of place on Bake Off.
The Friary, who are based on Musters Road, offer drop-in sessions during the week providing practical and emotional support for those in need who may be homeless.
Rushcliffe Swimming Club is based at Rushcliffe Arena and provides swimming lessons for children from aged four and a half upwards.
They hold sessions on Saturday mornings, Tuesday evenings and a family swim session on Sunday mornings.
The club is non-competitive and is entirely run by volunteers.
