The Nottingham branch of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) obtained a permit for a street collection in Nottingham on Saturday 22nd September.
This authorised the RNLI to collect anywhere within the city boundary on that day.
Wishing to obtain the maximum benefit from this, the Nottingham branch invited the Calverton branch, who are known as Calverton Ladies Lifeboat Guild, and the West Bridgford Branch to join in the collection.
The West Bridgford branch put out a team of collectors in Clifton, while Calverton collected in Bulwell.
The Nottingham branch covered the city centre, setting up an information stall on the Council House steps, and also collected in Wollaton. This gave the RNLI a presence right across the city.
This combined endeavour raised the total of £939, which was a good result as it was not very busy in the morning and raining steadily by 2pm, which cleared the streets.
The RNLI would like to thank all who helped with the collection and all who donated to it. Thank you all.
