Mike Whitehead, a local physiotherapist, is sketching his way to the city’s Outlaw long-distance Triathlon.
Mike, father of three and owner of Radcliffe Physiotherapy, is a keen sprint triathlete. Not satisfied with being a spectator at the Outlaw this year, he has already commenced a grueling training regime for the big event at Holme Pierrepont in July.
Alongside the running, swimming and cycling training, he has also committed to following his progress with an amusing blog.
Manager of Radcliffe Physiotherapy, Carol Spencer, said: “Mike will be 40 in a few months and wanted to mark the year with the challenge of moving from sprint triathlons to the full Outlaw.
“Patients ask about his training and event successes all the time and we wanted to explore different ways for people to be able to keep up to date and follow his progress.
“We set out to write a standard weekly blog, but when I found out that Mike could draw, one thing lead to another and we are now publishing blogs with timelapse videos of the development of his humorous sketches to document his trials and tribulations.”
After releasing his first three blogs, Mike said “I’ve had a terrific response to the blog and even been asked to do some sketches for a local song writer. I hope that people enjoy the journey as much as I’m enjoying it.”
Mike’s passion for sport and extensive knowledge in sporting injuries led him to expand the business last year by setting up a video analysis sports assessment clinic and his list of followers now includes GB ice dancers, Nick Buckland & Penny Coomes.
