Climb Your Mountain (CYM) is a charity dedicated to helping people to climb their own personal mountain by providing opportunities both physically and educationally so they can overcome challenges they may face in life and are now based in the West Bridgford area.
Currently, the main focus is to help children with learning disabilities and difficulties enjoy and benefit from outdoor physical activities.
There are free walks and hikes during the year for families. The next walk takes place on 30th June at Rutland Water.
CYM believes that outdoor experiences help to improve confidence and self-esteem as well as the particpants health and wellbeing.
Charlie Wardle, who founded the charity in 2008 and is a qualified mountain leader, said:“By organising events for these children, not only will they benefit but we hope to encourage and inspire others by allowing them to see that any goal is achievable and you can climb your own mountain.
“We want to help as many children as possible by providing these fantastic outdoor walks, hikes and mountain experiences, but we need your help too.”
The more funds raised for the charity and the more help they can get, then more children and their families can benefit.
They are looking for people to take part in challenges planned for 2020 – Everest Base Camp (March) and Kilimanjaro (June).
These fantastic experiences are open to anyone and they are self-funded but a minimum of £500 sponsorship / fundraising for the CYM Charity is asked for.
In addition, if you are interested in raising money for the charity, being involved in the outdoor activities or helping out as a volunteer please contact the charity by email and they will send you further details.
