Children from Beeston Fields Primary and Nursery School had a wonderful surprise in their PE lesson when two Notts County Football stars arrived to give them a workout.
Jonathan Forte and Adam Collin delivered the Football in the Community programme called Kinder + Sport Move and Learn, which aims to inspire children to get involved in physical exercise, good nutrition and adopting a healthy lifestyle. The children’s PE Co-ordinator Victoria Mitchell said it had given the whole school a burst of energy. “It was an incredible afternoon and the children fully valued the experience and were inspired by meeting professional footballers.”
Emma Trent, Health Manager at Notts County FC Football in the Community said that the children have fun whilst learning. “Move and Learn is a great way to educate children on the importance of living a healthy active lifestyle and the ways that this can be achieved. Having the opportunity to work with Beeston Fields Primary School on this project has been fantastic. The pupils have been so engaged in such an important topic – they are a real delight to work with!”
Pupil Evelyn Harradine said the lesson was brilliant, -but hasn’t been swayed to swap team allegiance. “It is amazing having a famous guy in our own school. I love football and I support Manchester United but it is just awesome to see a footballer in real life!” Pupil Seif Derbala said, “I felt so excited! I can’t believe they actually came! I was super, super happy that they came.”
Victoria Mitchell said she is now hoping that some of the footballer’s professionalism and commitment will influence the children. “The children have responded really well to the class. We definitely have some football stars of the future amongst the Beeston Fields pupils!’
