Dragon boat racing teams from all across the UK arrived at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint for the 30th year of the British Dragon Boat Association’s National Finals.
Notts Anaconda Dragon Boat Club, who were established in 1993, is a mixed crew with a wide range of ages.
They entered S20 Ladies, S12 Open, S20 Open, S20 Senior and S20 Mixed categories, consisting of 200m, 500m and 2,000m races.
The ladies S20 crew took first place over a 200-metre sprint race and second place over the 500-metre distance, securing them joint-first place overall, scoping a trophy for the club and national champion status.
Notts Anaconda Ladies share their status with Amathus Ladies from Liverpool.
The men’s S12 crew took third place over 200m but ranked first overall in the National League.
Notts Anaconda worked their way through all the heats across the weekend, beating off competition from 36 crews to get to the main event, the 500m Major Cup Final.
This consisted of the top six crews in the UK. After one close race across all teams, they took fourth place just missing out on third place by a fraction of a second.
Notts Anaconda are based at the Britannia Rowing Club, adjacent to the Nottingham Forest Ground.
They train every Sunday and Wednesday and always welcome new members. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. For more details visit www.nottsanaconda.co.uk
