Two Nottingham Emmanuel School students have performed on the BBC’s Blue Peter show, along with their cheerleading team, as part of the iconic programme’s contribution to Children in Need.
Lauren Etches and Chloe Wright were invited to perform with their squad, the East Midlands Cheerleading Academy, and are now the proud owners of a coveted Blue Peter badge.
Lauren said she was a little nervous before the performance knowing how many people would be watching.
“My family thought it was amazing because everyone was watching us on TV,” she said.
Chloe agreed that it was an intimidating prospect, saying: “It was an exciting experience visiting the BBC studios at Manchester.
“We also saw the set of Coronation Street and The Vamps. We were all nervous before, knowing how many people were watching, but we all helped each other through.
“My family think it’s quite an achievement to be on Blue Peter and I think it will help our performances in future. Nothing will be that nerve wracking again.”
Mr Simon Glover, head of Year 9 at the school, said: “It was fantastic that they could showcase their talent on national TV and hopefully it will be an inspiration to other students. I don’t have a Blue Peter badge and it makes me quite envious.”
