Nottingham City Transport is encouraging people to release their inner Sherlock Holmes this summer school holidays and explore Nottingham in greater depth as it launches its Bus Detective trails across the city.
The 6 individual trails take in some of Nottingham’s finest beauty spots, with plenty of exploration and investigative work to be done in Arnot Hill Park, Woodthorpe Grange, Wollaton Park, Colwick Park, West Bridgford and Bulwell for any budding detectives.
The aim for anyone taking part is to complete each of the 6 trails by answering a variety of number-based clues as they walk around the parks and local centres. Clues gathered during the trail correspond to a letter and after solving all the clues, a bus-related word is formed. When a trail is complete, passengers can then hop over to the Nottingham City Transport Travel Centre to receive a sticker to add it to their detective passport. Once all 6 stickers have been collected, the successful detective receives a certificate and prize!
There’s no time limit on the trails, with each of them designed to be done at any chosen pace, allowing people to enjoy their surroundings whilst hunting for clues. Participants can also explore a wide range of great things-to-do as they complete the trails such as visits to historic attractions, parks, places to eat, landscaped gardens and much more!
Anthony Carver-Smith, Marketing Manager at Nottingham City Transport said “It’s important for families and especially children to keep active and enjoy the outdoors during the school holidays. These trails offer hours of enjoyment as well as a chance to explore new places of interest across the city. What’s more, all the destinations are easily accessible on the Nottingham City Transport bus network with our value-for-money Grouprider ticket”.
Families travelling with Nottingham City Transport can purchase a Grouprider ticket for only £4.50, available all day, every day throughout the summer school holidays and until the 11th September. Grouprider tickets allow travel for up to 5 people with a minimum of 1 adult and a maximum of 2 adults travelling.
The suite of bus detective trails are completely free and available from the NCT Travel Centre in the Old Market Square or alternatively, can be downloaded online at www.nctx.co.uk/busdetective
