An application to open a secondary school in Cotgrave will be submitted to the Department for Education in October, with a plan to open in September 2016. The Flying High Trust, based in Candleby Lane School, are the Multi Academy Trust behind the plans.
A spokesman for the Trust said: “Our rationale in establishing a free school in Cotgrave is driven by parental demand, eager for their children to receive an outstanding education in a highly-motivated environment, just as they received in their primary education.
“The school will be a nurturing school, firmly rooted in strong moral values; developing a community in which every individual can flourish. An exciting and inspirational curriculum will be made special by a wide range of unique experiences.
“High aspirations and expectations will pervade the life of the school and support the development of young people with high self-esteem, self- discipline and a strong community spirit.
“It is extremely important to the Flying High Trust that all students are happy, confident learners and can achieve and realise their dreams and, with the support of others, can reach goals beyond expectations. As a Flying High Trust school, we will build on the strong links with our parents and our community.”
