Scouts and Guides across Nottinghamshire are now embarking on six months of rehearsal in readiness for their Gang Show at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal in March 2015. A junior cast of 50 Cub Scouts and Brownie Guides are supported by the senior cast of 200 Scouts, Guides and adult leaders. A further 200 adults support the young people through production, scenery, choreography, music, costumes and so much more.
They will all come together in March next year with another spectacular show of music and comedy. The Nottingham Gang Show is the largest and longest-running ‘amateur’ production held at the Theatre Royal and offers the opportunity for young people drawn from scouting and guiding to perform on the magical stage.
Music from Queen opens a full programme, with extracts from Matilda, Blood Brothers and a visit to the Flintstones gets the show buzzing . There’s something in this show for all the family – from the Lion King and Aladdin to Matt Monroe, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and lots more. There’s comedy too, so you will be in for a great night out.
The young people, from ages 8 to 18, experience the magic of performing to a full house on the region’s premier stage. By working with the senior cast, they grow in both confidence and stage discipline. The end result is fun and a Gang Show experience they will never forget.
The production costs are contributed to by local sponsors who benefit from our extensive show advertising and a partnership with Scouts and Guides. Should you or your business wish to support our young people, then please call Scout Headquarters on 0115 9523 617 for more details.
The Theatre Royal Box Office is open and already taking bookings for next year’s show, with ticket prices of £8 to £17.50.
