A total of 150 swimmers and supporters from Calverton & Bingham Swimming Club (CABSC) travelled as a team to the London Aquatics Centre – home of the 2012 Olympic Games – for a training session.
The trip was organised by coach and parent Katey Cox, who said it “was a fantastic opportunity to bring all the squads together as a team”.
The swimmers were very excited to train at the venue which had seen many of their swimming heroes win medals in 2012 and for many of the club’s younger swimmers it was their first experience of swimming in a 50m pool.
At the end of the session the swimmers came together for some races and relays and were joined in the pool by some of the parents and coaches.
The week before the trip, 17-year-old CABSC and Nova Centurion swimmer, Rosie Rudin, had swum at the pool in the British Championships, winning bronze medal in the Ladies 400m Individual Medley. She will now represent GB in the World Junior Championships in Singapore later this summer.
CABSC train at Bingham, Cotgrave, Southwell, Portland and Loughborough University. New members of all ages are welcome to come along for a trial – see www.cabsc.co.uk for more information.
