As the nights close in and the weather gets colder we venture back indoors after the summer picnics and BBQs and find ourselves spending more and more time inside our homes. As we picture cosy nights by an open fire, toasting marshmallows and festive parties it’s actually during these months many start to fall out of love with their houses. It’s no surprise that early spring is the most common time for people to put their homes on the market after long winter months of those extra visitors at Christmas, bad heating, drafty windows and damp amongst other winter related issues. Most family arguments happen in these months and the Telegraph named January 3 ‘divorce day‘. But it doesn’t need to be that way…
“Most people do not realise the potential in their homes”, says Jonathan Hargreaves, Director of Whitch & Greaves Construction. Moving home is ranked as one of the most stressful experiences with Zoopla revealing on average we put ourselves through this 8 times in our lifetime! Spaces that are unused are so often going to waste, a garage or loft conversion could release not only so much more living space in a home but also add a lot of equity. “It’s often not a bigger home people need just a home that works for them, it’s a misconception that it is easier to move than modify an existing home, that’s just not true. Storage is one of the biggest concerns people come to us with, and with a bit of planning we can easily double the storage in an existing house” Jonathan goes on to say.
Two Nottinghamshire based companies, Jigsaw and Hargreaves Joinery merged back in April to form Whitch & Greaves Construction Ltd when they saw a rise in people frustrated with their homes but not wanting to leave the area they are in. The new company had the goal of helping families fall back in love with their properties by being able to offer property renovations and complete home makeovers, removing the need to move. “Most construction jobs can be completed quicker than a house purchase” comments Jamie Whitchurch also from Whitch & Greaves Construction.
Whitch and Greaves Construction Ltd is a reliable building services team with over 15 years’ experience who offer a complete end to end service, from simple jobs like replacement doors and windows to new builds, home extensions, loft conversions and kitchens. “We work on homes not houses, we understand how important your home is to you and we want you to get the best from it.” comments Jonathan and Jamie.
