West Bridgford-based Holy Spirit Celtic Sports Club (HSCSC) U18 Girls finished their season in fine style when they beat Woodland White Socks FC 2-0 to win their age-group Plate Final.
Club chairperson, Nigel Rowden commented, said: “I am delighted for a really super group of girls who are a credit to our club in the way they play the game and conduct themselves.
“This was a particularly pleasing win because over the years at different age groups this team has often been the runners-up on cup final day.
“It should also be noted that the girls are a year younger than most of the opponents they have faced this season.
“Initially, they found the step up to this level challenging as they adjusted to the additional physicality and pace of the under-18league, but they have steadily improved and finished the season strongly with four wins and a draw in the last five games.
“This resulted in them earning a very creditable fourth place in the Nottinghamshire League.
“The girls have also been recognised for the third year running for their outstanding sportsmanship with the age groups FA Respect Award.”
