The new hockey season is just around the corner and training and pre-season preparations are well under way at West Bridgford Hockey Club.
An important part of that preparation involves introducing new players to the sport and the club have been busy working on ways to do just that.
So, for anyone interested in getting into hockey, the club has opportunities for children and adults alike to get involved, even if it’s just to find out more about the game.
The club’s Hockey Day is for children as young as four years old and above, a free open to all event suitable for boys and girls up to age 15, especially suitable for those who have no experience but would like to find out what the sport has to offer.
There will be a variety of fun hockey-related activities available to try, including the chance to play in a mini-hockey game.
Hockey Day will be held at the club’s West Bridgford School pitch, on Sunday 7th October between 11am and 1pm. The clubhouse will be open and, as usual, a great fun day will be enjoyed by all.
Ladies Back to Hockey runs on Wednesday evenings form 6:30pm to 7:30 pm at West Bridgford School on Loughborough Road.
It’s and easy and fun session for anyone either looking to re-join the sport following a break from it, or for first-timers who would like to try it out – no experience is necessary.
Details of these events can be found on the club’s website at www.wbhockey.co.uk, but you can just go along to either session.
All equipment is provided by the club – just wear suitable trainers, and for the ladies, shin pads if you have them.
Coaching is provided by the club’s experienced coaches and is free of charge for these sessions.
So, no excuses. If you are looking for an affordable way to get into a sport, this is a really good opportunity to make a start.
The friendly bunch at West Bridgford Hockey Club will make it really easy and they look forward to meeting you.
