The Glapton Academy in Clifton welcomed two of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters after winning a competition via the Capital FM Arena Nottingham.
Known worldwide as the ‘Ambassadors of Goodwill’, two members of the iconic Harlem Globetrotters, Slick and Firefly, presented the ABCs of bullying prevention to over 50 school children.
They also taught children basketball tricks and played games much to the children’s enjoyment.
People were asked to enter the competition via email or Twitter with an explanation as to why their class or primary school deserved a visit from Slick and Firefly. Pupil Harry Wing, aged 10, won with the following heart-warming entry.
He said: “I think my class deserve a visit as I just moved to the school and they have made me feel really welcome and have become my friends straightaway.
“Please consider our school. Me and my friends would appreciate it lots and we would make them (Harlem Globetrotters) feel really, really welcome if they visit.”
The Harlem Globetrotters will perform at the Capital FM Arena Nottingham on Thursday 23rd April 2015.
Celebrating their 89th consecutive year in 2015, they will continue a world famous tradition of ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry, and unique family entertainment that continues to thrill fans of all ages.
