A special event is taking place at the Ng2 Business Park today (Thursday) from 11am to 2pm.
The aim is to encourage people to leave their car at home and travel to work by public transport, bike or on foot.
Nottingham City Council offers travel plans for businesses and their employees at Ng2 and has worked with NET, East Midlands Trains, Nottingham City Transport, Trent Barton, Citycard Cycles and many others to promote this day of greener transport with some great prizes and travel offers.
The Totally Transport event is funded through the European Union’s Intelligent Energy Europe Push Pull Project, which awarded Nottingham £74,000 to deliver travel planning measures at three Nottingham business parks.
The ‘Push’ is to change travel behaviour away from using cars and the ‘Pull’ is providing sustainable travel alternatives.
This reduces car dependency, congestion, carbon emissions and business costs and increases the use of sustainable transport and access to the business parks for non-car owners.
Councillor Nick McDonald said: “This event will showcase the many alternatives there are to driving to work. It is a chance to try some other form of transport and has some great prizes on offer for people that work on the business park.
“With a tram stop soon to open, walking, cycling and public transport facilities are really integrated at Ng2.”
