The power of a cake sale can never be underestimated and employees at Broxtowe Borough Council took their tea break with a difference when they hosted a charity cake sale, which raised £233.56 for Wellbeing of Women and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Employees hosted the annual cake sale with donations from across all departments, as well as a special Broxtowe Bake-Off competition, which saw a blueberry and lemon cake take top spot. The selection on offer sold out by the end of the day.
A spokesperson said: “Our employees are always raising money for causes close to their hearts and I’m incredibly grateful that they have continued to show their generosity by supporting the employee cake sale and helping to raise this fantastic amount for Wellbeing of Women and Macmillan. I can confirm that the cakes were delicious too.”
Wellbeing of Women funds research into women’s reproductive health and childbirth with the aim of improving treatments, finding cures and developing new and faster diagnostic techniques.
