Nottingham’s tram network has teamed up with the City Council to support a packed programme of exciting outdoor activities in Clifton this summer.
Starting in early August, there’ll be a range of events including picnics and family fun days, culminating in an extra special night at the movies when NET hosts Clifton’s first ever Drive-In Film Festival in September.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, Assistant Marketing Manager at NET, explained: “Our new line to Clifton has been very popular since it opened last year and we wanted to help back these events as a way of saying thank you for all the support we’ve received from the area.”
The summer event schedule will begin with an Olympic Games-themed Picnic in the Park at Clifton Playing Fields on Tuesday, August 9. With cycling, a bungee run, a climbing wall and a bouncy castle amongst a host of other activities on offer, the event aims to encourage families to get healthy whilst having plenty of fun.
A Family Fun Day with stalls and activities for all ages will take place at Dovecote School on Saturday, August 13, whilst youngsters will be able to take their cuddly toys with them on Wednesday, August 24 for a special Teddy Bear’s Picnic at the Central ‘Flower’ Park.
Stephanie added: “All the events are just a short stroll from one of our tram stops making it easy for families across Nottingham to attend what promise to be really enjoyable days out.”
Grease and Back to the Future will be screened as part of the Drive-In Film Festival which will take place at NET’s Clifton South park & ride site on September 9 & 10.
Jointly supported by NET, Nottingham City Council and Smooth Radio along with Clifton North and Clifton South Ward Councillors, the two-night festival has already seen eager film fans snap up almost half of the available tickets.
For the chance to win remaining tickets for either night, those interested will need to visit smoothradio.com to register their details. Winners will be picked at random and full terms and conditions can be found on Smooth Radio’s website.
Clifton North Councillor and Area Committee Chair, Councillor Pat Ferguson, said: “As a council we are committed to investing in our communities and are proud to be supporting this event. Clifton has some wonderful facilities from award winning parks, a popular outdoor market and shops, to great transport links. This event will help showcase what Clifton has to offer to both residents and visitors.”
