West Bridgford Hockey Club is once again offering the opportunity for parents and children aged five and above to get involved in their family hockey nights coaching series.
Experience is definitely not necessary and you don’t have to be particularly sporty either, as the emphasis is on having a great time doing something different.
Adults and juniors are coached separately – and there will be plenty of opportunity to try out new-found skills in fun exercises and team mini-games during the sessions.
This is the perfect opportunity for parents and children to have a go at the sport under expert supervision, without any pressure, and with all equipment provided by the club.
All you need to bring is a pair of trainers and some shin pads.
The sessions, which got under way on 25th June, last for one hour and are held at the astroturf pitch at the Becket School off Wilford Lane.
They sessions begin at 6:30pm start and will run for six consecutive weeks.
The club ran it’s first series of family hockey nights during the run up to the London Olympics in 2012, as part of a national Get back to Sport promotion.
It was so well received we ended up fielding an additional men’s league team as a result.
That series also resulted in a substantial increase in junior attendance at the club’s Sunday training sessions, which cater for ages five years and up – and run from September. The family nights have run each year since.
The family night hockey sessions are a really great opportunity for everyone to get involved in sport.
Hockey is ideal for all the family to get involved in as it is suitable for almost anyone aged 5 five over 60, and any level of fitness or ability .
All you have to do is go along and let the club’s group of England Hockey-qualified coaches prove it to you.
