Extra trams will run on Saturday evening (August 6) as local people flock to the annual Riverside Festival firework display.
Starting on Friday, August 5, Nottingham’s biggest free festival offers three days of family entertainment along the banks of the River Trent at Victoria Embankment, adjacent to Trent Bridge.
As well as transporting festival-goers across the weekend, trams to the event will run with an increased frequency on the Saturday night to help people get to and from the firework display which begins at 10.30pm.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, NET’s Assistant Marketing Manager, explained: “This is the first year that our network will be able to drop festival-goers right at the event’s doorstop with direct trams to transport them across Nottingham.
“We’ll be running additional services to the festival on the Saturday evening to make it as easy as possible for people from across the city to attend the festival’s highly anticipated annual firework show.”
NET’s Meadows Embankment stop is conveniently located just a short stroll from the festival and tram users can even take advantage of discount travel when heading to the festival in a group or with their family.
Stephanie added: “Our £5 Group Ticket is available all day, every day, throughout the school holidays and offers unlimited tram travel for groups of one or two adults and up the three children.
“Those heading to the festival can even avoid the hassle and expense of finding a parking space by using one of over 5,000 free spaces at our 7 park & ride sites situated across the network.”
