Representatives from Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council and North West Leicestershire District Council have met to discuss the consultation feedback on naming the A453 when it opens later this year.
The consultation, which ran between 15th and 30th January, asked whether the A453 should be named and, if yes, what it should be named. The consultation received 1,630 responses and over 90% were in favour of naming the road.
The three councils are proud to support the naming of the road and are liaising with the Highways Agency and the Royal British Legion about the name and other tributes that have been suggested, such as planting poppies at strategic points along the route.
They are also looking for ways of contacting the families of local service personnel who gave their lives in Afghanistan to involve them in the process.
