A fantastic total of more than £10,000 has been raised for the Nottingham-based charity Education for the Children (EFTC) at a golf day at the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.
Golfers from Palmers of Trent Bridge and HD Decisions of Nottingham were amongst the teams participating.
“It was a fantastic day with lots of sunshine and seven people beat the course professional,” said event organiser Boo Somers.
“The funds will be used to pay for an all-weather sports area at the charity’s school in Jocotenango, a desperately impoverished area of Guatemala.
“The school, opened in 2011 by EFTC, educates and feeds 580 children who would otherwise be begging on the streets.”
The winners of the golf tournament were Fraser Brown Solicitors of Nottingham.
Charity auction prizes included a giant stilton cheese donated by Colston Bassett Dairy and the golf holiday at the prestigious Thracian Cliffs golf resort in Bulgaria.
The charity is now gearing up for its Annual Ball to be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on 10th October.
Tickets are now on sale, see www.eftc.org.uk or phone 0115 958 4876.
