A talented musician from Clifton is making a name for himself across the world.
Jaymal Davis was featured in the Clifton Local News a year ago after having his music featured on Kemet FM and BBC Radio Nottingham.
Now, his music is being played across the UK and even as far afield as South Africa and Finland.
Jaymal told the Clifton Local News: “My main influences are Stormzy for his mad energy and stage presence, Wretch 32 for his linguistic devices and Drake for being an all-rounder and never failing to impress with anything he releases.
“Things are going well at the moment as I continue to get regular play on BBC Radio Nottingham, as well as having my music played in London, Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and Lincoln.
“My music has also been played outside of the UK on a radio station in Finland and even as far afield as South Africa.
“My Spotify has picked up massively with my most streamed song on 18,000 and weirdly enough my main supporters on Spotify are in Germany.
“My hit song ‘Lost’ was shared on the wall of music page which has 25,000 views on the post.
“Last Year, I performed at September which had artist featured like The Cheeky Girls, Liberty X, S Club 7, East 17 and Razorlight.
“I recently performed at Nass Festival. The feeling of performing in front of so many people was amazing.
“Bugzy Malone and Dizzee Rascal were the main acts. I managed to meet Bugsy Malone which was an honour and he’s a very clean-hearted guy. Run DMC, Stefflon, Big Shaq, Jax Jones, Yxng Bane & Young T and Bugsey also performed.”
Jaymal has big plans for the future and hopes to appear at one of the top music festivals in the city in the future.
“Next year I’m hoping to perform at Splendour,” he said. “I would also like to appear at the YNot Fest or Detonate, so fingers crossed for that.
“I have a few more shows in the pipeline this year, so watch this space.”
