Chilwell Olympia have won the ‘Most improved Performer in Sport and Leisure’ at the 2018 Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards in Blackpool.
These awards recognise excellence in local government front-line services across the UK.
The national awards are open to all local authorities and their public sector partners.
APSE’s data benchmarking service allows local government to recognise those top performing local councils alongside those who are striving to continuously improve their frontline services.
Criteria for the award include attendance, income, expenditure and customer service quality.
Chilwell Olympia demonstrated that they are actively developing new strategies, implementing innovative ideas and supporting continuous improvements across the centre that are all contributing to this.
Developments at the centre include a new spin studio, an enhanced class timetable and new kit in the gym.
Centre manager, Garry Shaw, said: “It’s down to the commitment and energy of the staff that we’ve managed to implement so many positive changes at the centre.
“To win the award is a fantastic accolade for all their hard work.
“Going forward we shall continue to offer the best possible service to our customers.”
Chilwell Olympia beat seven other shortlisted local authorities to take the top prize at the awards ceremony.
