On Saturday 9th June, John & Mary Hawkins hosted a thank you BBQ for branch helpers at their Lady Bay home and received £46 in donations for the RNLI.
As you may have read in the May edition of the Local News, Lady Bay Primary School PTA were to hold a Safari Sale where residents and organisations set up stalls in surrounding roads offering a wide variety of items for sale.
Peter Brocklehurst, souvenir secretary of the RNLI’s West Bridgford branch, set up stalls selling souvenirs and pre-loved items in Gertrude Road where he was assisted by other branch members throughout the day. These stalls generated £325 for the RNLI.
The West Bridgford branch has been appointed custodians of the RNLI’s regional gazebo which was used for the first time over the weekend and will be a great asset at outside events.
On Thursday 14th June, the branch held a collection in Bingham Market Place. This also coincided with Storm Hector hitting the UK.
Fortunately, by the time it reached Bingham it had deposited its rain elsewhere. The stall holders, shoppers and collectors only had to contend with high winds, but this did greatly reduced the size of the market.
Nevertheless, all things said, this was still a good day as a total of £215 had been received by the time the collection closed at 1pm
The RNLI who would like to thank John, Mary, Peter and all who helped them and the residents of Bingham for making June a very productive month.
