This has been the most significant year in the history of Burton Joyce Bowls Club since the green was laid at the Poplars Sports Ground over 20 years ago.
At last, members of the BJ Bowls Club (BJBC) can pose before their newly completed pavilion, which was made possible this year by a most generous donation from one of the club’s founder members.
On the greens, the club has enjoyed mixed fortunes this year.
After promotion to the second division last year, BJBC were top of the LCBC League for some time.
They have since slipped back to fourth place, but are only one point behind the leaders with two matches in hand.
Burton Joyce is currently second in the NFBL Mixed League, just one point above local rivals Lowdham who have a game in hand.
In the Trent Valley League they have not fared as well, losing six out of their eight matches and currently lying second from bottom of the division.
The season will be coming to a close shortly but Burton Joyce Bowls Club will look forward to welcoming new members next year. Watch out for a poster in April.
