Bunkers Hill in Nottingham City Centre will present two classes of ‘Beer Yoga’, linking up with Wildcard Brewery on Thursday 13thJune and Northern Monk Brewery on Saturday 15thJune as part of the City’s craft beer week running 8th-15thJune.
The pub in the Hockley area of Nottingham takes part in Nottingham Craft Beer Week every year and tries to do something a bit different- last year held an all-female brew fest featuring guest speakers Melissa Cole, Jaega Wise as well as local Brewster’s and local CAMRA branch members.
Both Beer Yoga classes are free- including the beer- but customers must book their place. There is limited space so email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your spot. The classes are being run by a local instructor who runs yoga classes in the local Victoria Leisure Centre.
Beer Yoga is a new fitness craze from Germany, combining traditional yoga poses while drinking bottles of beer. Starting in Berlin, Beer Yoga is gaining huge popularity in Asia and classes have popped up in London and other major cities in UK. As far as we know this is the first in East Midlands.
We’ve teamed up with Wildcard Brewing Company from Walthamstow in London and their head brewer, beer sommelier and TV host Jaega Wise will be on hand to talk us through the beers whilst we yoga. Saturday morning, ahead of the Nottingham Craft Beer Festival which opens at 12noon across the road from the pub, staff from Leeds-based Northern Monk Brewery will help with the late-morning class.
The pub is also host to a Pint of Scienceevent, craft beer and house plant swap, Sunday jumble sale, plus Wildcard Brewery and Northern Monk tap takeovers. The pub is open from 4pm Monday to Thursday and from 12noon Friday to Sunday. Follow @thebunkershill on Twitter and Instagram and Facebook.
