Bingham’s Keith Wenborn has recently undertaken a grueling five-kilometre swim at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont.
He told the Local News: “The idea for the challenge started last summer.
“I have had both knees replaced so since 1996 my main exercise has been walking my dogs.
“I met a friend in Wetherspoons pub in Bingham in May last year who had beaten prostate cancer and was planning to swim 5k in Lake Windermere.
“I had just had confirmation of my MS following a brain scan, so I decided I would do a 5k swim.
“My friend was an ex-chairman of Bingham Triathlon Club and their help and support has made this challenge achievable.
“I have tried to train between three to six times every week, apart from when my body has needed a rest.
“On my first cycle ride I fell off the bike. Last week I did 25 miles with the Bingham Tri Club at the Butterfly event in Car Colston.”
Keith has so far raised £700 through his Just Giving site and a further £100 in pledges. To help with his fundraising log on to justgiving.com/fundraising/keith-wenborn.
