Beeston residents are being urged to line the streets to give our local Armed Forces a rousing welcome as they march through the town centre to mark Armed Forces Day on 29th June.
Soldiers from 170 (Infra Sp) Engineer Group will march through the town centre at 11.00am, along with veterans from the Royal Engineers Association and the Royal Engineers Reserve Band.
170 Engineer Group are based at Chetwynd Barracks in Chilwell. In 2009, they were granted Freedom of Broxtowe Borough in in recognition of their outstanding achievements, commitment and dedication in the service of this country and as an expression of the high regard in which they are held by the Council and members of the community.
Their annual Freedom of Entry Parade, where they exercise this Freedom by marching through the Borough has become a popular local event.
As the route will be closed for the Parade there will be some traffic disruption.
Local businesses are also being urged to get into the patriotic spirit by dressing their shop windows in red, white and blue or sponsoring bunting. If you’d like to help, please contact the Civic Office on 0115 917 3210.
