Lilian Greenwood MP for Nottingham South cut the ribbon at the official opening of new Crusader Court Post Office in Clifton.
Mandeep and Amarjit Dosanjh took over Barton Green Convenience Store last May and fully refurbished the premises.
Just before Christmas it became a post office and Premier convenience store.
The couple are very experienced at running a post office as they previously ran the main branch in Melton Mowbray.
The Post Office say the new store is “part of an exciting modernisation and investment programme taking place across the Post Office network”.
Mandeep and Amarjit Dosanjh, took over Barton Green Convenience Store, Premier, 1-2 Crusader Court, Barton Green, Nottingham NG11 8TB last May and fully refurbished the premises. Just before Christmas it became a Post Office and Premier convenience store.
The couple are very experienced at running a Post Office as they previously ran the main Post Office in Melton Mowbray before they moved to Nottingham.
Lilian Greenwood said: “This new post office, which is open daily, makes it very easy to visit Crusader Court Post Office and people can do their banking here.
“The community has really benefitted from Mandeep and Amarjit Dosanjh by adding a post office and fully modernising the store.”
The new branch offers customers a wide range of Post Office services, from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items, Parcelforce and MoneyGram.
Customers can also take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.
Postmaster, Mandeep Dosanjh, said: “The community is very happy.
“We have had nothing but very positive feedback about the improvements we have made to the store and they are delighted that we have added a post office.
“We have seen sales increase by 40% since we made all the improvements. People are finding the opening hours are very convenient and there is lots of parking.”
Since joining part of the Premier brand they have introduced a support a charity scheme for customers.
The couple have chosen the Good Companions charity, which organises monthly get togethers for local elderly people and home visits for the elderly in the area to help tackle isolation and loneliness.
The couple presented the first of the monthly cheques for £111 to the charity at the official opening event. This money will help to pay for refreshments and a Christmas party.
