A team from Turner & Townsend took home the winners’ cup at the 2017 Nottingham City Business Club golf day, which took place recently at the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.
Eighteen teams representing various businesses and organisations in Nottingham tee’d off for the annual golf event – with financial consultants Brewin Dolphin crowned runners up.
The team from construction and project management consultants Turner & Townsend, with a winning score of 100 points, was awarded the coveted cup as well as a free four-ball game at the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, in Stragglethorpe.
Runners up Brewin Dolphin won a voucher for a meal at restaurant Chino Latino, in the Park Plaza on Maid Marian Way.
In addition to the first and second place teams, taking part were representatives from (in order from highest to lowest scoring): Jamieson Christie, John Pye Property; Browne Jacobson, UHY Hacker Young, Actons, CEMA, Buckles Law, BEC Consulting, Yorkshire Bank, Earl & Pelham, Double Impact, Foremost Security, Gas Container Services, Air IT, Affinity Asset Finance and GF Tomlinson.
Through a combination of sponsorship, a raffle and entry fees, the event also raised £550 for local charity Double Impact, which helps people in the region who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Nottingham City Business Club was established in 1924 and its membership comprises of senior representatives of the local business community. The club is sponsored by national law firm Buckles, who have an office in Nottingham.
The Nottingham City Business Club Golf Day was first launched in 1929. It stopped in 1982 but was re-introduced in 2011 and has been a popular event on the club’s calendar ever since.
As well as the annual golf day, the club holds monthly lunch meetings for members to meet fellow senior business people in the city, with different prominent guest speakers featuring at each event.
Commenting on this year’s golfing event, president of the Nottingham City Business Club, Mark Deakin said: “It was a great day enjoyed by everyone that took part. It is always a popular and fun event for members of the club and it was brilliant to see everyone get on-board this year too, as well as raise money for the Double Impact charity.”
Sponsors of this year’s golf event were John Pye Property, BEC Consulting and Air IT.
