Clifton Village Cricket Club have become champions of Division B of the South Notts Cricket League.
After voting to resign from the Notts Premier League at the end of last season, the club has begun its progress back up the league at the earliest opportunity.
After losing to Carrington CC in mid-July and slipping to second in the table, the club dug deep and went on a run of six wins that elevated them back to the top.
That meant a victory at Eastwood CC in the last game of the season would guarantee the title, and promotion to Division A.
Batting first, Eastwood were restricted to only 133 thanks mainly to the miserly bowling of Brad Moore (3-36) and Dominic Robinson (3-31).
This total was no match for the dominant Clifton batting line-up as they reached the target for the loss of only four wickets, with veteran Richie Harrison (30) and Tony Hart (33) the main runscorers.
