Newark Book Festival takes place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July.
Building upon the previous Books in the Castle event, a newly rebranded and bigger two-day literature festival will be taking place at venues across the town.
This includes Newark Castle, Newark Town Hall, Market Place, Gannets Bistro, The Secret Garden Café, Millgate Community Centre, River Cruises, National Civil War Museum and Newark Library.
Throughout the festival there will be a programme of guest authors, panel discussions, children’s events, illustrators, storytelling, food, poetry, street theatre and a Literature Quarter.
The festival’s new director, Sara Bullimore, is passionate about creating an event that will challenge, inspire and present the very best in literature and the arts.
Originally from Newark herself, Sara is thrilled to be developing this exciting event and working with partners to celebrate and showcase Nottinghamshire literature too.
Newark Book Festival is an independent not-for-profit organisation that relies upon grants, support and funding from sponsors and the community, but Sara hopes that the festival can grow and become a sustainable event for years to come.
She said: “This is a great opportunity to celebrate what Newark and Nottinghamshire has to offer.
“We have launched sponsorship packages for businesses and a new Friends Scheme for audiences starting from just £15 per year.”
