The new Methodist Centre in Bingham is on schedule to open its doors in early April with an open day and official opening service during a weekend to remember.
Fifteen years in the planning, the building will be the only new-build Methodist Church in the country to be opened in 2016.
The Methodist Centre will provide modern worship facilities for Bingham Methodist Church and the local Catholic congregation, as well as a large hall, community meeting rooms, two retail units and rentable office space.
The centre will open to the public for the first time on Saturday 9th April for an open day between 10am and 3pm.
Refreshments will be available and visitors will be able to tour the building to see the new facilities on offer.
Volunteers will also be on hand to welcome and guide people around.
On the following day, Sunday 10th April an opening celebration service is being planned for this historic day with special guest Revd Steve Wild, president of the Methodist Conference.
The service is by invitation only as it is strictly limited on numbers.
A committee of volunteers has been set up to organise both the open day and celebration service to ensure it is a memorable occasion.
Meanwhile, work continues apace to complete the building work, with the exterior brickwork being completed and the interior being fitted out with electrics, plumbing and wooden cladding in the worship space.
The first of two retail units opened its doors on Thursday 10th March, with Barnardo’s taking up residence in the new £1.7m development.
