Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood says she is “disappointed” with the decision by Trentbarton to no longer route their Skylink bus to East Midlands Airport through the heart of Clifton.
The routing through Clifton has been pretty sporadic over the past few years but only a year ago, Trentbarton and East Midlands Airport announced that the route from Nottingham would go through the estate again.
Bosses said the link would create jobs for people in Clifton with hundreds of potential opportunities at the airport and surrounding sites.
However, this week Trentbarton announced the bus would revert to the A453, stating that they had “received numerous customer requests to reinstate the quicker and more direct Skylink Express”.
Lilian Greenwood told the Clifton Local News: “It’s disappointing for Clifton residents that Trentbarton are no longer running the Skylink service through the estate.
“This provided a more convenient service for those travelling to the airport, whether to get to work or catch a plane.
“I hope the bus operator both explains its decision and ensures that local people who rely on the service are properly notified of this change.”
