Cotgrave Football Club is kicking off the new football season in style thanks to sponsorship from local housebuilders Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
The Claret and Blue teams are sporting a new kit this season after securing Barratt Homes North Midlands and David Wilson Homes East Midlands as their official sponsors.
The housebuilders, who both build homes in the area at their Hollygate Park development on Hollygate Lane in Cotgrave, have given the Nottinghamshire team a cash boost of £1,000 which has kitted out the 10 to 11 year olds playing kits and training wear.
Andy Bury, club manager at Cotgrave FC, said: “We were very pleased that Barratt and David Wilson Homes offered this sponsorship.
“As volunteers we not only have to coach the kids but also manage the finances to ensure the teams can continue to play.
“I’m sure that without sponsorship we would have to increase costs to the parents and would lose some players as a consequence.
“The kids love to feel part of a team and club and wearing the same kit and tracksuits is a simple way to give them this positive feeling.
“Having individual sponsors for each team gives the players a sense of identity to their own team while still being part of the larger club.”
Training for the teams is held at Cotgrave Candleby Lane Primary School on Wednesday evenings and games are played on Saturday mornings at the Ridley Sports Ground, which neighbours the Hollygate Park development.
The teams play in the Nottinghamshire Young Elizabethan League, the Blue team in Division 3 and Claret team in Division 7.
